Último día en el Lake School.
Dedicamos la mañana a repasar elementos de la vida, la cultura y el idioma del Reino Unido.
Nos ponemos a prueba con un UK quiz: How much do you know about life in the UK? preguntas fáciles del tipo:
How many inches are there in a foot?
What´s the name of the day after Christmas, December the 26th?
What' s the other name for a public holiday?
Y otras menos fáciles ...
Which sport is played at Lords?
What annual event is celebrated in Chelsea at the end of May?
Which sport is associated with Badminton? (this was a ticky question)
Who lives in 11 Downing Street? (another trcky one, it`s not The Prime Minister, he lives in number 10)...
Conocimos distintas formulas de cortesía muy ligadas a la cultura británica: Cuándo utilizar "sorry", "pardon", "excuse me" ; a qué hora llegar a una casa a la que hemos sido invitados a cenar, cómo identificarse por teléfono o las distintas formulas que podemos utilizar si queremos ir al baño ( the loo, the cloakroom, the toilet, the ladies and gents, the throne room... o siempre podemos decir: nature is calling...)
Por último buscamos errores típicos relacionados con algunas palabras confusas (confusas para nosotros, extranjeros.)
Y así llegamos al final de este interesante curso. Entrega de diplomas, despedida y visita por la tarde del Blenheim Palace, impresionante palacio de estilo barroco construido a principios del siglo XVIII por el duque de Marlborough, lugar de nacimiento de Winston Churchill, e incluído en la lista del Patrimonio de la Humanidad.
